The State of Illinois has more than $990 million to be claimed in lost or forgotten assets and almost one in five people may have something to claim. The Illinois State Treasurer's office keeps track of this information in its Cash Dash database. Types of unclaimed property listed in this database includes safe deposit box contents, unclaimed wages, uncashed checks, and paid-up life insurance policies.
