Is
a credit union a bank?
No. A credit union is a financial cooperative. So while Allsteel
Credit Union offers a variety of financial services similar to those
of a bank's, its primary purpose is service to members, not profit for
stockholders. Governed by a volunteer board of directors and owned by
its members, a credit union returns any of its profits to members in
the form of lower rates on loans, higher rates on savings, and improved
services.
